Slippery Slope - a true crime podcast by Dave O'Neil and Brad Oakes

A project meant to breathe new life into Mount Isa would turn it upside down and fall victim to an international crime wave.

Comedians Dave O'Neil and Brad Oakes were doing a gig in Mount Isa when they heard about a project proposed by a local councillor to raise the town's spirits.

Bogged down in memories when the mine contributed to the community, a small group of dreamers dared to bring a shimmering monument to life.

The Council was going to build a waterslide.

But nothing's ever easy, especially when the closest major city, Darwin, is in another state (technically a territory).

Brad Oakes, comedian and cohost of Slippery Slope felt it when he visited.

"Mt Isa is isolated. You can feel it as you fly in. The state capital, Brisbane, is roughly 1800 kms away - about the same distance between London and Rome."
